psp themes - There Are No Gays In Star Wars

"Monster Hunter Freedom Unite will spearhead the PSP resurgence of 2009, we believe, and I would like to thank Capcom for their unwavering support in this endeavour."

"One of the key demographics for PSP in Europe is the ten to 16 year-old male - the ideal demographic for Monster Hunter Freedom Unite," Reeves explained. "By combining the skills and know-how that Capcom and PlayStation possess, we feel we can excite this audience with this fantastic game.

"We firmly believe that if we can get people actually playing Monster Hunter Freedom Unite together in ad hoc mode - which not many Europeans do, but Japanese do all the time - even if it's only for a few minutes, we can create enough intrigue and excitement for them to want to experience more."

Yes, if you care to trawl around the site, there are a few threads that either began as, or devolved into, psp themes, discussion of how the game - or the game's future player base - would handle gay relationships. And those threads are now locked. A thread complaining about those threads being locked (along with the words "homosexual", "lesbian" and "gay" being censored on the boards) has now also been locked, with BioWare's community manager Sean Dahlberg posting succinctly:

As I have stated before, these are terms that do not exist in Star Wars.

Thread closed.

Reeves announced that MHFU would be launched as part of a PSP hardware bundle when the game goes on sale on 26th June, and that a demo version would be released beforehand on both UMD and as a digital download.

The idea is to encourage people to discover the game's ad hoc wireless mode, which has been wildly popular in Japan, where the game - known as Monster Hunter Portable 2G - has already sold more than three million copies.

BioWare take their Star Wars role-playing seriously. So seriously that the developers are shutting down talk on Old Republic's message boards about homosexuality, because it's a term that does "not exist in Star Wars".

psp themes - The reason these relationships have

According to Langer, the study - conducted by Professor Douglas Gentile - used data provided by Harris Interactive through an opt-in online survey, which itself said: "Because the sample is based on those who agreed to participate in the Harris Interactive panel, no estimates of theoretical sampling error can be calculated."

Gentile admitted error, commenting: "I'd assumed they had gathered the population initially as part of a random probability sample,",psp themes; adding: "I missed that when I was writing this up. That is an error then on my part."

Michael Gallagher, CEO of The ESA, wrote in his letter to Dr Kail: "The concern arises from the fact that the sample group for the study was not randomly chosen… It was a 'convenience' sample of individuals who agreed to participate in the survey.

"As you are likely aware, such a sample is not truly representative of a national population group. Thus the results cannot be projected onto the broader population of children in this country," he explained, adding: "And the sampling error of plus or minus 3 per cent that Dr Gentile cited in the study is also meaningless.

"We firmly believe that if we can get people actually playing Monster Hunter Freedom Unite together in ad hoc mode - which not many Europeans do, but Japanese do all the time - even if it's only for a few minutes, we can create enough intrigue and excitement for them to want to experience more."

Reeves also thanked Capcom for its unwavering support for PlayStation during his nearly 15 years at the head of Sony's European division. Senior Capcom personnel indicated that the tenor of the outgoing Sony boss's speech was not decided in advance, and came as a pleasant surprise.

"I'm here talking to you because I believe that the relationship between Capcom and PlayStation is one that's been cultivated over the years to create some of the greatest partnerships that the game industry has ever seen," Reeves said. "And it's a relationship that promises to continue for years to come."

"The reason these relationships have remained so strong is because we are indeed like-minded, iconoclastic companies, companies that strive for the same goal, to create innovative, and more than anything, fun experiences," he concluded.

psp theme - June marks the launch across Brazil of Zeebo

June marks the launch across Brazil of Zeebo, a console that aims to tap an enormous new market for videogaming for the billion-strong, emerging middle classes of such countries as Brazil, India, Mexico, psp theme, Russia and China. Zeebo uses the same Qualcomm chipsets contained in high-end smartphones, together with 1GB of flash memory, three USB slots and a proprietary dual analogue gamepad. It plugs into a TV and outputs at a 640 x 480 pixel resolution. 'The key thing is we're using off-the-shelf components,' says Mike Yuen, director of the gaming group at Qualcomm. This approach means that,

while Zeebo can be priced appropriately for its markets — it will launch at US $199 in Brazil comparedto around US $250 (plus another US $50 for a mod chip to play pirated games) for a PlayStation 2 in the region — and next year the company plans to drop the price of the console to $149. But the most important part of the Zeebo ecosystem is its wireless digital distribution that gets around the low penetration of wired broadband in many of these countries, negates the cost of dealing with packaged retail goods, and removes the risk of piracy, with the games priced at about $10 locked to the consoles they're downloaded to. Zeebo is not meant to directly compete with powerful devices like Sony's PlayStation 3, Microsoft's Xbox 360, or the Wii. 'In Latin America, where there's a strong gaming culture,

Before getting the refund, Wykle bought a second DS, just so her son could have a proper birthday present. "I made them open it while I was there to make sure there was a DS in it," she told WTSP.

Here's the kicker: Seems that box of rocks had been returned before.

psp themes - Activision has dished out the Spider-Man

Activision has dished out the Spider-Man and Transformer franchises to two developers it acquired (and kept) from the merger with Vivendi.

According to a report by Variety's usually reliable Cut-Scene blog, the next Transformers game will now be handled by Bourne Identity developer High Moon, while Spider-Man goes to Prototype developer Radical.

The latter's inheritance of Spidey is a no-brainer considering its history of developing open-world games (and they can basically get away with re-skinning Prototype). But Bourne is a bit more of an interesting choice.

According to Cut-Scene the High Moon game is a non-movie tie-in to be released next year. We quite liked Bourne (I did, anyway) and it had some interesting ideas, so we'll be keen to see if High Moon can put out a better Transformers game than the rupsp themesish one we got last time round.

The latest financial presentation from European video game retailer Game comes complete with lifetime European sales numbers for the current crop of consoles and handhelds. Let's take a look!

The information is presented in the form of a hardware install base chart, psp themes, with data provided by GfK Chart Track and Game's own internal data, tallying the lifetime sales of each major console up to January of 2009. Taking a look at the UK numbers alone, we see that Nintendo has completely dominated the United Kingdom, with the Wii's 4.9 million topping the Xbox 360's 3.2 million and the PlayStation 3's 1.9 million. As if the Wii domination weren't enough, psp theme, Nintendo's DS tops the entire list with lifetime sales of 8.8 million. What about the PlayStation 2, with 10 million units sold? In a super elitist school, the students are taught to believe in three things, friendship, wisdom and competition. Every year, the students of the school compete to become the student union body president, and these competitions are often more than intense.

You need not enter the fray alone, though, as the school encourages friendship. You are allowed to form an ally with another student. The goal of the game is to conquer your opponents to become the student union body president and at the same time, develop a romance with your partner.

This dating simulation game is based loosely on the rules of Monopoly. The player gets fifty turns to spin the roulette and proceed along the grid and build up their reputation. Depending on their reputation, they can acquire land and other properties, the better they utilize their reputation, the better chances they have in being elected president.

So how does the rest of Europe and Australia stack up?

Well, technically we can't be sure. Game's numbers only include those European countries where Game stores are located, so only France, Spain, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, the Czech Republic, and Australia are represented, leaving out notable countries such as Germany and Italy, who will probably launch their own sales numbers aggressively across Europe at a later date.

The limited picture we get of Europe and Australia pretty much follows the same trends as the UK numbers, with the exception of the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, with Sony's console showing a 300,000 console lead over the 360. Combining both totals together still has the PS3 a million behind, but it's catching up.

500 million online games since June last year, as FIFA and NFL each clock over 2.4 million registered users

EA is flaunting the popularity of its online game services by announcing that its Sports label has clocked 500m online games since June last year.

EA says that an average of 2.2 million online games have been played each day since June, when the publisher first started releasing its 2009 EA Sports product line. This level of online play reflects an increase of more than 175 percent from the same period last year, the publisher said. The most recent tie ratios (number of different games per console) for the Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii were presented by news site Gamasutra. The figures reveal that the PS3 had recently amassed a 6.5 tie ratio in North America, whereas the Wii’s was at 6.2.

NPD Analyst Anita Frazier offers a reasonable explanation for the recent trends, stating that the Wii enjoyed a striking run of hardware sales during the second half of 2008, yet the PS3 has experienced five straight months of lower year-on-year hardware sales.

The simple equation here being that hardware sales have just as much a significant effect on tie ratios as software does. Tie ratios are, after all, total software numbers divided by total hardware.

As the PS3 failed to get many new customers, its current users had many more games to purchase over the late months of 2008. The Wii, meanwhile, is selling incredibly well despite an inordinarily low turnout of significant titles.

Combining both totals together still has the PS3 a million behind, but it's catching up.

Either way, the Xbox 360 looks best of the three when viewed from a tie-ratio angle.

Both the Wii and PS3 were released in November 2006, so the most recent tie ratio figures show each system’s performance after 29 months at retail. In examining the Xbox 360’s tie ratio after the same 29-month period, Microsoft’s box shows itself to have a significantly more impressive balance, at 7.5.

Interestingly, the console’s tie ratio rate has plateaued somewhat in the last eight months, as the figure in August 2008 was at 8.0 whereas today it has edged up to 8.3.

“The massive migration to online gaming has transformed the video game landscape, and this week's 500 millionth online EA Sports game highlights the radical shift that we've helped pioneer in the industry,” said Peter Moore, president of the division.

EA also provided a number of different angles to view its online volumes, stating that “4 billion minutes” of EA Sports games have been played since June, and that “35 years” of online play is amassed each day.

Both NFL 09 and FIFA 09 have over 2.4 million registered online users each, the company added.

Electronic Arts has announced that its forthcoming, hellish action romp, Dante's Inferno, will be heating up the PSP in 2010. The portable version will ship alongside those previously announced for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, with Wet developer A2M working with EA Redwood Shores to translate the game's nine circles of hell onto the small screen.

Even with this news, details remain scant on the project. Still, given the game's purported God of War-style gameplay, we have high hopes that Dante will be able to follow in the Ghost of Sparta's miniaturized footsteps when Dante's Inferno ships for the PSP next year.

I sit down to write this post with mixed feelings.

On the one hand, I have to congratulate MaTiAz and Davee for their recent excellent work on the TIFF exploit and HEN. Their project is exciting, and I'm sure we're all waiting with excitement for their upcoming release. It shows that the PSP homebrew scene has not been defeated by Sony's latest efforts, and long may the spirit of competition continue. It's also nice to see so much cooperation within the community. Great stuff.

But on the other hand, this obsoletes the work we were doing on an eLoader for the GripShift exploit - there's no need for it, since the TIFF exploit should work on all PSPs, with or without the game. We've worked hard on it, but so many busy events in our lives (parenting, moving house, pressures of work in the current economic climate) have meant that progress was slower than we'd hoped.

So this will be the first and only project that we've announced but not followed up on. For that, we're sorry - but at least it's been obsoleted for the best of reasons.

Alright, Mr. Encyclopedic Knowledge of Japanese Titles Before Localization. First of all, your name is way too long. Mind shortening it a bit? No? Fine, we'll call you... Tad. Central to that is the ability to swap out a multitude of different Trotmobile parts; heads, legs, arms, torsos, and so on -- and building a shuffling, lumbering, horribly unbalanced monstrosity is not only allowed, but if it makes strategic sense, it's encouraged. What use is building a hilariously (but intentionally) disfigured mechanical beast if you can't show it to friends? So, our question is:

A large number of those polled (75 percent!) had downloaded a game off a network service, which is nearly doubled from the 37 percent who had at the same time last year. Still, the overwhelming majority of Japanese gamers prefer buying boxed games for reasons like "the satisfaction of owning a physical object" to "because I can sell it when I get bored of it." However, there were complaints regarding retail release dates, which often make it difficult for those working to pick up games on launch day.

Japanese gamers were happy with the ability for companies to release patches for games. Demos also got high marks. Said one 36-year-old woman,   psp theme "Being able to download demos is great. I've made purchases based off the demos I've played several times." Things like online cheaters caused concern as well.

Industry Heads Discuss Growth and the Future of Games

Yesterday at the MI6 Conference held in downtown San Francisco, an annual panel was formed to discuss the future and direction of the videogame industry.

It's called the Gaming 20/20 Panel and this year included Michael Pachter, Managing Director of Research at Wedbush Morgan Securities as moderator; John Pleasants, COO of Electronic Arts; Christoph Hartmann, President of 2K; Kai Huang, Co-Founder of Red Octane; Darrell Rodriguez, President of LucasArts; and JJ Richards, GM Massive.

While nothing truly newsworthy came out of the discussion, I jotted down some of the more interesting exchanges and quips that I heard during the hour and a half talk.

-The software attach rate on Wii was the highest last year of the three major consoles.

-2K's success with Carnival Games: Almost 3 million copies sold. The PC budget market consumer is very similar to Wii consumer according to Christoph Hartmann.

Check out the first trailer for upcoming PSP title “Rock Band Unplugged,” where your hands are the peripherals.

The game will be out on June 9 with the PSP. There will also be a “Rock Band Entertainment Pack” that comes with the game, a black PSP, a 4GB memory stick and a voucher to download the movie “School of Rock.”

-Guitar Hero sells better on Wii than any other platform.

-No panel member knows how to perfectly market and build a game to attract the Wii user.

As for Chronicles, not even Dengeki provided a hint as to the nature of the game. We're going to suspect another remake of Ys Book I&II.

The Dengeki Online report also made mention of a full feature on Ys VII in an upcoming issue of its sister print publication Dengeki PlayStation. Is this an indication of a PSP or PS3 release for the game? Falcom has been expanding outside of the PC market through the  psp theme PSP of late, so a PSP release for at least one of the two games would not seem too far fetched. We'll let you know if we hear anything.

Falcom is bringing back Ys (pronounced "ease") in a big way this year. At a fan event held on Saturday in Tokyo, the company made a more formal announcement of Ys 7 and also made first mention to the mysterious Ys I&II Chronicles .

Nothing specific was revealed on the two titles, with Falcom instead telling attendees to wait for future updates through its website or through magazines. The company did distribute a flier, though, which housed the text "Ys Evolves. From Ys I&II Chronicles to Ys 7." Below that were release dates for the two games: Summer 2009 for Chronicles, and Fall 2009 for Ys 7.
